JEREMY WARMSLEY – HOW WE BECAME
For reasons unknown Jeremy Warmsley is not one of the biggest names in UK music. This album picks up where 2006’s ‘The Art of Fiction’ left off. Hitting the ground running the album opens with the brilliant ‘Loose My cool’ with its slow build and engaging lyrics it draws the listener in from the first few seconds with its initial Patrick wolf-esque drum loop.
As the album progresses it becomes clear this is an all together more accessible album than his debut, and as such should lead to more mainstream attention and recognition. On ‘Dancing with the enemy’ the strength of Warmsley’s voice is strikingly exposed through the keyboard driven bare accompaniment.
This is not an album of throw away sentiment and the lyrical detail and depth will keep the avid listener close for months whilst the captivating music will not alienate the less attentive listener. Having had the pleasure of witnessing Jeremy live twice over the summer it’s great to hear the final version of some of the newer material he has been touring. All in all a great album of easily accessible and long lasting lyrical greatness.
