Bombay Bicycle Club
One of the bands at the forefront of last year’s new underage scene, Bombay Bicycle Club’s sound sits somewhere between the Strokes and Pavement, played with the confidence and gusto of musicians twice their age.
Labelled by The Fly as “impossibly young and impossibly talented”, their angular, post-hardcore indie is reminiscent of early Placebo, The Macabees, and Editors, with Sonic Youth meets Stone Roses riffs.
New single ‘Evening/Morning’ was released on London’s premier indie label, Young & Lost Club in August, and this summer saw the band play at T in the Park, Underage Festival and Reading / Leeds amongst others.

Leeds based band, Skylarkin will be heading out to support Conor Oberst in Europe this autumn. This will be followed by In The City in Manchester, Popkomm (Berlin) and a support tour with Hot Club de Paris. Their first single 'Fossil, I' is released in the UK on October 13th

Iglu & Hartley
Described as a genre bending, culture defying, laser show, the unique music of Iglu & Hartly is driven by heavy synths, raps, and explosive hooks.
Take the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Flaming Lips, with a bit of Beastie Boys style thrown in, and you can begin to imagine their massive synthed-up anthems, with nasal, semi-rapped vocals.
The duo, who formed whilst studying at the University of Colorado, have just signed to mercury records, and are currently working on their debut album “& then boom” with Mark Needham (the Killers, Bloc Party, Fleetwood Mac) which will be released 22nd Sept.
A spectacular gig at this year’s South By South West festival in Austin, Texas and a limited edition 7” release in June helped create a flurry of excitement around the band. With a recent sell out UK tour under their collective belts, Iglu & Hartly relocated to London this summer to continue their assault on the UK.

Micachu
East London composer, DJ, and songwriter Micachu is one of Londons most interesting young musicians. Signed to accidental records, she is currently composing a piece for the London Philharmonic. That’s when she’s not making her own instruments… out of hoovers.

Broken Records
Hotly tipped by The Times to be the star musical event at this year’s Edinburgh Festival, Edinburgh septet, Broken Records, are a band bursting with potential.
Their rowdy, contemporary folk shanties will delight fans of Nick Cave, Dylan, Waits, Cash and more recently, Arcade Fire and Modest Mouse.
2007 was a busy year for the band, with live sessions on BBC Radio One in Scotland and BBC 6 Music, a performance at T in the Park, and a support slot with Idlewild under their belts.
The rousing trumpet, fiddle, cello, guitar and drums on their magical new single, Slow Parade, (Fandango) will remind those bored of copycat indie bands, that all is not lost.

Esser
Esser is a 23-year-old Essex boy brought up on UK garage, who is reinventing trashy glam rock like a young, lap-top packing Brian Eno.
His off-kilter loops and vocal samples, pulled together with a dead-on pop sensibility and dry Essex observations have already earned him support slots with Foals and the Mystery Jets.
His currently untitled debut album, Produced with Lexxx, sidekick of the A-List mixer Mark ‘Spike’ Stent (U2, Madonna) is due to be released soon, on Transgressive records (Foals, Young Knives).

Your Twenties
In 2007, in a South London recording studio, Your Twenties got together and recorded a track which was to become their first single on London based label Germs of Youth. The track was Caught Wheel, created with engineer Andrew Ramsay (Stereolab), and co-producer Joseph Mount (Metronomy). Inspired by the sounds of The Beach Boys and the Velvet Underground, Caught Wheel fell into the hands of Erol Alkan, and the band were offered a gig on the spot at Durrr, the Monday night successor to the legendary Trash. In February this year Your Twenties became a live band featuring - amongst others - Gabriel from Metronomy.

Metronomy
The elegant, enduring and truthful art-pop sound that Joseph Mount and his band Metronomy play, can be likened to early Brian Eno, Talking Heads, or Soft Cell.
However they quickly saw the current commercial possibilities of Metronomy when DJ, producer, Trash founder and electro-punk avatar Erol Alkan began to feature single ‘You Could Easily Have Me’ in his sets, and asked Metronomy to play at his club. Joseph has also embarked on a series of prestigious remixes for the likes of Klaxons, Franz Ferdinand, Gorillaz and Kate Nash
Metronomy’s new album ‘Nights Out’, released at long last this September, is a second album that feels like a debut, and is the first Metronomy album for new label Because Music.

Tubelord
Tubelord have a sound and energy similar to OnesToWatch favourites, Johnny Foreigner.
The dazzling jerky, melodic, three piece have turned heads in 2008 with the release of single ‘Feed Me A Box of Words’ on Big Scary Monsters, followed by their stunning track ‘Night of the Pencils’. They will release their new single I Am Azerrad on 29th September on limited edition 7” each of which comes with it’s own unique artwork.
“With their jerky dance-punk rhythms smoothed out into melodic choruses the trio pose the best kind of dilemma – should we try and dance or concentrate on learning the words?” NME
