This should be worse, a lot worse. It sounds good to the ear with the little devil sat next to it, just pushing you to except Feeder and all their dad rock, kid pleasing millions selling records. There is something about them but I don’t know what it is. Normally a band which sings the lines “I fell into water/the water was deep” would be put in my bin. Feeder have never lost their energy or song structure. Never recreating it but always making it sound fresh and invigorating.
For me, it beats ‘Buck Rogers’ – and that will probably send most people questioning my ability to review music but it has better lyrics, better guitar parts and a better, bigger sound overall. And when a band is beating their biggest ‘hit’ eight years on without loosing any of the vigour that made them such a force in the first place, well, that little devil can keeping singing Feeder to me all day, because they’re doing something right.
