Nursery of Naughtiness - 'The Lesson 3 EP' (single review)

I don’t like this EP very much, but that might be my fault. To me, opener “The Requiem” sounded rather derivative of “Block Rockin’ Beats”, except with a sitar intro, which is by far the best park of the song. But that may because, to my ears, a lot of highly rated electronic music falls into one of two categories; “kind of like Daft Punk, Vitalic and Justice” or “kind of like Chemical Brothers”, and this is certainly in the latter camp.

However, if I can imagine myself for a moment in a club, glow sticks in hand, whistle in gob, then I still don’t feel it is a particularly dance-inspiring EP. “The Nameless” reminds me of the irritatingly repetitive music from the club level of “Conker’s Bad Fur Day”, while third track “The Collision” sounds like a slightly more chilled version of “The Nameless”, with a few more random noises. Not intelligent music, even by drunken/drugged dance club standards; probably one only for the rave-heads, although I doubt even they would be missing much.
