Sargasso Trio – ‘Burnin, Burnin, Burnin’ (album review)

Sargasso Trio are and folk synth band hailing from Norwich, they are made up of, as their name would indicate, a trio of songwriters who uniquely all sing and all play the keyboard. They are Pete Murdoch, Emily Siddall and Ben Winn and together they produce a perfect fusion of folk and alternative electro that generates a unique and marvellous effect.

Upon putting the CD into my CD player a mysterious sound washed over me, and all I wanted to do was escape from modern day life, lean back with a cup of tea and enjoy, their sound is masterfully chilled yet it also sound diversely experimental, a sound that you won’t hear elsewhere. Their sound has the unique ability to brighten up even the dullest of days, but do it in a relaxed manner.

As you listen through the album, issues that are close to people’s hearts are discussed, certainly for me at least anyway, such as giving up smoking and relationships. After getting into the depths of the album you can feel the sound pulsate through your body and stop off to reverberate around you.

Because the band swap roles it means that each song is different. The great thing about Burn, Burn, Burn is that there aren’t any filler tracks on the album. They are all uplifting yet mellow at the same time.

I have to say that I was expecting this album to be good after hearing one of their tracks earlier in the year, though wasn’t expecting this album to be as good as it is. It’s a very well put together record, with a well deserved sense of purpose behind it. Well worth your money
