Envy and Other Sins – ‘Highness’ (single review)

'Highness' is the unashamedly catchy debut from Envy and Other Sins, the band who received their big break by winning Channels 4’s Mobile Act Unsigned competition in late 2007, securing them an album deal with A&M records.

This debut is the single that helped E&OS to secure the deal and with very good reason. The track proves that this is, indeed, a talented bunch of guys intent on making addictive music. I kid you not; the chorus will be playing over and over in your head for days!

You may just assume E&OS are another band entering into the world of ‘Indie’ with an almost Killers-esque sound but I think this single is definitely strong enough to make the boys from Birmingham stand out. Fuelled with distinctive vocals, pianos and catchy riffs, Highness is an incredibly upbeat debut. And with their new genre of ‘Furniture Rock’, Envy and Other Sins look set to make it big in 2008.
